Program
Los Prietos Boys & Girls Camp
This week our focus was on an annual program that the club looks forward to each year. Student campers from the Los Prietos troubled youth facility came to our meeting and spoke to our members about the many ways that Los Prietos has changed their life and put them on the path to being a respectful and productive member of society. Each of the six young people who spoke told a tale of a troubled past and how they had to overcome many obstacles and family situations to become who they are today. The staff at the camp bonds with each of these young adults and helps guide them along the path of success. Our club, along with the Goleta Noontime club are proud each year to donate funds to their scholarship program. The scholarships help the students pursue their continuing education as they leave the safety of Los Prietos and ease themselves back into everyday life as they graduate camp and return home. During the presentation a sizeable check was given to the program from each Rotary Club. Pictured above (L to R) Tim Staffel, Erin Cross, Michael Bennett and Joe Talaugon
