PROGRAM

BUILDING TOMORROW'S CAREERS

Kevin Walthers, PhD

President/Superintendent, AHCCD

SMBR member and past-president (2019-20) explained the upcoming bond election that will appear on the November 3 ballot.  It's a $290M bond that will address the needs of a very successful educational effort to expand certifications and degrees needed in our community.

AHC, in cooperation with multiple colleges along the Central Coast, such as Santa Barbara City College, Cuesta College, and Cal Poly SLO, are expanding offerings to earn certifications in Nursing and Radiology. Additionally, multiple bachelor degrees in such fields of Business and Sociology are currently offered with more to come in the very near term.

Major facility upgrades are necessary to modernize and expand space for classrooms and labs to make all of this happen.

At the heart of the matter is the need to provide a University Center to accommodate the 400+ students that are, or will be, attending…“Right here in Santa Maria!”
